Alex Fieldcamp explains, "Why have the NY Knicks failed for so long?" is a question that has plagued New York fans for the last decade. There are several reasons why the Knicks have suffered, but one in particular stands out: the team's point guard hasn't been very good during the last decade. Since the departure of Derek Harper, the Knicks have been without a consistent point guard.

The Knicks had fleeting flashes of greatness from Raymond Felton and Stephon Marbury, but they never appeared to win many games. Similarly, Derrick Rose was hampered by injuries in 2012-13, and the club went the whole season without a point guard.

The Knicks have struggled with consistency, which benefitted them last season but has also played a role in their recent troubles. They used to be inconsistent and lacked a tough-guy defensive identity, but that is no longer the case. The Knicks have also had horrible luck this season, as they've faced underperforming clubs like as the Orlando Magic and Oklahoma City Thunder. Only three of those clubs have beaten the Knicks in their combined 26 wins.

The Knicks aren't particularly strong on defense, ranking 20th in points allowed and enabling opponents to make 3-pointers. They're also bad at protecting the three-point line, allowing 13 three-pointers a game on 37.4 attempts. Furthermore, they are aging. As a result, before Tuesday's game against the Spurs, coach Tom Thibodeau is pondering a lineup change.

A number of events contributed to the team's recent comeback. In a midseason deal with the Dallas Mavericks, the Knicks got a fantastic player in Derek Harper. They won the Atlantic Division the next season, going 57-25. There were a total of 25 playoff games at the time, which was a record at the time. In the first round, they defeated the New Jersey Nets, and then in the second round, they defeated the Chicago Bulls in seven games.

The Knicks were tipped to be Eastern Conference powerhouses after the 2010-11 season. They did make the playoffs in 2020-21, but they haven't won a game in a row since 2013. Coach Tom Thibodeau pulled Kemba Walker from the starting lineup because to the Knicks' poor defense. This player was instrumental in the team's early wins. The Knicks' most, however, disintegrated after that, and they dropped six games in a row.

Alex Fieldcamp described that, The team's issues are mostly due to the present coaching staff. They've been restructured, but the bulk of the squad has been retained. Thibodeau is one of the most seasoned and respected coaches in the NBA, and his roster has more experience than ever. He's supposed to keep things moving forward, but he hasn't yet. The Knicks' supporters are eager for any hint of optimism. On Monday night, the Utah Jazz defeated the New York Knicks, giving them their fifth consecutive road loss.

The Knicks' shooting woes are exacerbated by the fact that their point guard has left the team. The Knicks were fourth in the NBA in fourth-quarter offensive rating before Rose's injury. In 32 games, this has fallen to 101.4. In that period, they are dead bottom in the NBA.

To regain their competitiveness, the Knicks will need to improve their point guard and other front-court players.
For the first time in eight years, the New York Knicks qualified for the playoffs a couple years ago. Fans of the New York Knicks were not ready to give up hope of making the playoffs.

They are, however, in for another poor season this season. They didn't appear to benefit from signing Kemba Walker, and other members of their team aren't performing up to standard. The Knicks had a 22-24 record heading into Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Alex Fieldcamp's opinion, The lack of a point guard capable of orchestrating this offense is one of the most serious problems. The team's dependence on the three-point line is another element to consider. The Knicks struggle to defend 3-point attempts, allowing 13.0 per game. In the NBA, it ranks 26th. The Knicks may lose ground in the standings if this trend continues.
